What is a raffia bag?
The name of raffia comes from a natural fiber found in an African palm tree, from which a very strong and flexible fiber has historically been extracted and used in the rope-making industry, mainly for weaving.
Today, its synthetic version is more commonly used for the creation of raffia bags, fiber obtained through a process called extrusion of polyethylene and polypropylene. This results in a shiny, rigid but lightweight and very resistant material, perfect for making reusable cloth bags that can withstand a lot of weight, which makes this material a more ecological option than traditional disposable bags.
To manufacture the "fabric" of raffia, two strands of raffia are interwoven at 90º, hence its recognizable appearance, which offers great strength and durability.
Uses of raffia bags.
Raffia bags are widely used by supermarkets, large stores, food stores or workshops. For example: Ikea's raffia bags are already known by many of its customers, as they are preferred for carrying heavy and large products. They also become a bag that is not only used in their stores, since they have a long life, they are reused in shopping or moving.
